  1. Remove the valance over the curtain rod if you have one. Certain pins in the head rail should be easily undone, as you may have to unscrew the other. Let someone help you raise and lower it if the window in question is long, such as a front veranda or sliding glass door.
  2. Open clips and remove the carrier body vertical blinds one by one and put them aside. You may have to pull a little to get them, but only applies light pressure and the blades should come out.
  3. Unscrew the mounting screws that hold the curtain rod to the window and someone to help lower it to the floor..
  4. Find the square rod at the center of metal that runs along the track. To loosen a rod, gently push it back into the tilt mechanism on the end of the track until they no longer move around.
